SOP adalah 'Standard Operating Procedure'. Ianya amat penting dalam amalan S ke 4 iaitu Seiketsu. Dengan adanya SOP sesuatu kerja itu berjalan mengikut proses yang yang seragam (standard. SOP biasanya terdapat di dalam buku panduan atau fail meja. Dalam amalan 5S SOP diletakkan ditempat yang sesuai dan mudah dilihat serta dibaca. Ada juga kes dimana SOP diterangkan oleh petugas yang sentiasa berada ditempat kerjanya. Gambar-gambar menunjukkan kaedah penggunaan kunci dan cara-cara untuk merebus telur separuh masak yang diamalkan di sebuah hotel.

Clearly it’s unlikely that any of us could strictly adhere to a system like this, especially given the constantly changing nature of our work. Plus there may be uncontrollable factors (like husbands) that can toss a wrench into the works. But I’ve always found that a little structure never hurts when it’s used as a guideline, so I will try it out and see how it goes. Then I’ll try to apply it to my computer files, emails, etc. Anyway, it’ll be fun to say “Seiton!” the next time my husband puts the pliers down on the corner of my desk.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- A highly trained, efficient, able and competent civil service serves as a worthwhile asset in maintaining the nation's competitiveness and in stimulating innovativeness.

"Apart from this, members of a competent civil service are also the one with a wide knowledge base encompassing economy, sociology, psychology, and of the different cultures in the nation," said Associate Prof Datuk Mohd Ibrahim Abu Bakar, the dean of the Razak School of Government (RSOG) at Universiti Tun Razak (UniRazak).

He told Bernama recently, in a nutshell, molding a highly competent civil servant goes beyond academic and skills training. There is a greater need to produce knowledgable and analytical minds.
