Organise (3S) Your Home For Aidil Fitri Celebration

Its 10 more days before the Raya celebration the month of Syawal 1431 (muslim calendar) start. Getting your home organised for 'hari raya' can be quite a challenge, especially considering the many other things on your “to do” list. However, it will make the rest of your plans go much smoother, once you tackle the 3S in your home first.

The first order of business is purging things that you no longer need. It is simpler if you attempt to organise one room at a time. One drawer to another. Go through each space and sort through your belongings. Organise items into separate containers/boxes etc things to store elsewhere, and things to donate or throw away or to keep.

The 5S System on the Construction Job Site

Before real problem solving can begin… Before you can truly identify and eliminate waste… You must master 5S.

Planning 5S? First Know Why!

The first-and most important-step toward success with 5S is to get the purpose correct. Failure to do this is endemic and leads to problems of all kinds. The basic principle is that you must know why you want to implement 5S before being concerned about learning how to do it. Most people, when they are asked the purpose of 5S, cite safety, discipline, employee morale, reduced waste of motion and-perhaps the worst reason of all-being tour ready.

Visual Communication

Visual Communication is a key element in 5S implementation and plays a leading role in helping turn a traditional manufacturing system into a Lean one. Introduced in the second step of the 5S System, or “Set in Order,” Visual Communication helps facilities organized all tools, inventory and features through proper identifi cations.

Visual Communication, or sometimes referred to as “visual systems,” is shown to have a dramatic impact on the workplace and can be an especially effective tool in curbing many of the production issues facing managers today. Online surveys, conducted by America Online® and Salary.com® in 2005 and another survey, conducted by
Microsoft® in 2008, found work area personnel waste an average of over 2 hours per day.

Why is this phenomenon occurring and what can be done to change it? Often, reasons can be traced back to a lack of proper Visual Communication. In many facilities, work area personnel are incapable of effi ciently completing simple tasks because the necessary information is not available. When this occurs, work can’t be completed in a predictable time and production suffers.

Work area personnel also have very different levels of knowledge about a facility and when inventory and tools aren’t properly identified, unnecessary frustrations in the workplace occur.

Developing a workplace where inventories, materials, tools and equipment are all well-marked and clearly identified is an effective solution to help reduce wasted time. Results are often far-reaching and have been found to boost: productivity, quality levels, customer satisfaction while reducing workplace injuries. The list of benefi ts is near
limitless!

How 5S is use in running a hospital

President and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston wrote in his blog :

The most dramatic evidence comes in the form of 5S process improvement events, but please recall that this is all part of a "tortoise-like" engagement throughout the whole hospital.

But check out the BEFORE and AFTER of the NICU supply room. This improvement took 6 weeks of prework and 2 days of physical transformation. $15,600 overstock was removed from the carts. More importantly, as this improvement is sustained, it will make life easier for all of the nurses and doctors working on this floor taking care of really little babies.

Dokumentasi Dalam Amalan 5S

5S Challenge : Which S is most difficult and why?

"Which of the 5S is most difficult?" I received this question during a class I was teaching recently. I've never been asked this before. People often say "self-discipline is the most difficult" or "sustaining is the most difficult" but this answer never really satisfied me, so after a pause I gave my answer to the students.

In my view it's one of the other 4S that is the most difficult. I won't say what answer I gave, or why, quite yet. Let's make this a 5S Challenge.

Bekas MP Cadangkan BN Perlu Seragam/Standardisasikan Tindakan Untuk Memenangi Pilihanraya PRU13

Most Advanced Country In 5S After Japan Is India?

Perhaps this photo above and article below supports my finding.

"5S" Techniques play an important role in initiating Total Quality Management (TQM) Practices in an organization. The "5S" techniques, originally developed in Japanese industries, have now been very successfully adopted in many Indian organizations prior to implementation of TQM.

Osada's Book In IndonesianTranslation

I was trying to find out more about Mr Takashi Osada instead what I found was his 5S book already being translated to Indonesian Langguage. In addition there is a blog commenting on the book from an Indonesian.-->

Budaya bangsa memang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan ekonomi sebuah negara. Bahkan kedaulatannya.

The Side Effects Of Leafblower As Seiso Tool.

If you were at Putrajaya around 8.00am you will see many leaf blowing activities.

It goes without saying (but must be said anyway), that leafblowers pose the greatest threat to the health and hearing of the untold numbers of landscape workers who use them on a daily basis, in most cases without adequate protective equipment, for intervals that far exceed OSHA guidelines. Unfortunately, the workers themselves tend to exaggerate the benefits and deny the risks of blowing leaves with machines, which they strongly favor over rakes, for reasons that probably have more to do with symbolism than practicality.

5S for the office

The adoption of 5S throughout all office and administrative functions is the first step to increased efficiency. In 5S for the Office: Organizing the Workplace to Eliminate Waste, Tom Fabrizio and Don Tapping bring the concepts of the 5S System -- effective tools for the elimination of waste on the shop floor -- into the office environment. The activities at the heart of 5S for the Office (organizing, ordering, cleaning, standardizing, and sustaining all of these) are completely logical. They are the basic rules for managing any effective workplace. However, it is the systematic method with which the 5S system approaches these activities that makes it unique.
